Blood and Bone Marrow Registration Drives
On April 1st at Mahamevnawa New Jersey, we held two charitable events: our spring Blood Drive, in partnership with the New York Blood Center; and our first Bone Marrow Donor registration drive, in partnership with DKMS. On that day 38 people donated blood and 7 people registered as bone marrow donors with the National Bone Marrow Donor Registry.
The donation of blood and bone marrow helps to save the lives of others. Thank you to everyone who helped make these even
Mahamevnawa Buddhist Meditation Center of New Jersey
Mahamevnawa Buddhist Meditation Center of New Jersey Inc (MBMNJ) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the practice and teaching of Buddha Gotama known as Theravada Buddhism. MBMNJ is a New Jersey (US) branch of Mahamevnawa Buddhist Monastery of Sri Lanka.
It is our mission to advance the Buddha’s teachings of generosity, morality, and meditation and to enhance the spiritual life of our members and the general public through cultivating friendship, compassion, and wisdom. The services of this organization are open to any member of the public interested in learning and practicing Theravada Buddhism.
It is MBMNJ’s long-term plan to establish a Buddhist monastery in New Jersey according to the Sri Lankan forest monk/nun tradition in an area conducive to meditation and to invite Dhamma & Vinaya practicing monks & nuns to reside at our branch and support them in their efforts to study, teach and apply the Buddha’s teachings and share their inspiration, knowledge, and wisdom with the general public in New Jersey and U.S.A.
MBMNJ’s ultimate motive is to foster a deeper practice of the Buddhist ethics for the wellbeing of individuals, families and society at large, to help individuals of all ethnic and religious backgrounds to find peace and mental calmness through concentration and mindfulness and to promote the study and application of insight meditation (vipassana) which will ultimately lead to the attainment of Nirvana.
